Plenty of US sellers still type “$8 shipping” into every Depop listing out of habit, then wonder why the same jacket from someone else sells first. The other listing is almost always using Depop’s own USPS label. Since July 7, 2026, those labels have reportedly cost buyers $1.99 for parcels up to about a pound, $3.99 up to 2 pounds and $5.99 up to 10 pounds, according to tracking by the reseller news site Value Added Resource. For most clothing, that undercuts anything you can buy at a post office counter.
So the useful question is not what Depop shipping costs in the abstract. It is which way to ship the specific thing in front of you: a tee, boxed sneakers, a boot bundle, something heavy or something expensive. Find your item below, and you will find the cheapest sensible option and what it does to your payout. Two caveats up front. Depop does not publish a fixed US price table, and it changed its shipping offer four times in 2026, so treat these as the prices to plan with for 2027, not promises.
The label prices US sellers are working from
When you choose Depop Shipping, you pick a parcel size at listing, and Depop prices the prepaid USPS label from that size, not from the distance it travels. A buyer in the next town and a buyer across the country pay the same. The buyer pays by default, and the label arrives as a QR code you show at a USPS drop-off, with a printable version if you prefer tape and paper. Tracking is automatic.
| Parcel size | Weight limit | Reported buyer price since July 7, 2026 | Usually fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Extra small, small, medium | Up to about 1 lb | $1.99 ($0.99 on qualifying orders under $10) | Jewelry, tees, tanks, swimwear, a light dress |
| Large | Up to 2 lb | $3.99 | Jeans, hoodies, a light jacket, small bags |
| Extra large | Up to 10 lb | $5.99 | Boxed shoes, boots, coats, multi-item bundles |
For context, that is cheap postage. USPS’s commercial Ground Advantage price for a parcel under a pound runs from $7.33 to $8.95 depending on distance, according to the Notice 123 rates compiled by I’d Ship That in October 2026, and retail Ground Advantage at the counter starts at $7.90, per Ship.com. Depop is clearly subsidizing the gap to keep buyers checking out, which is also why the offer keeps moving. Before July, the older Depop ladder ran from roughly $4.49 for extra small to $13.99 for extra large.
Selling a tee, a top or anything under a pound
Use the Depop label and stop thinking about it. At $1.99, the buyer is paying about a quarter of what the same parcel would cost you on a commercial label, and your listing looks better in search next to sellers charging $7 or $8.
Cheap items get an extra push. Since September 16, 2026, Depop has offered $0.99 shipping on qualifying purchases under $10 in the smaller sizes, with no end date published. That matters for the $6 thrift tee or the $8 pair of earrings, where a $7 postage line used to be more than the item. Large and extra-large parcels are excluded.
The one thing to watch is the scale. Depop prices by the size you select, so a dense knit or a pair of jeans that sits a few ounces over a pound belongs in Large. A kitchen scale or a small postal scale settles it; folded into a poly mailer, plenty of “light” items surprise people.
Jeans, hoodies and the jacket that tips past a pound
This is the Large tier at $3.99, and it is still the right call for nearly everything between 1 and 2 pounds. Buying the same weight yourself would typically run well above that once you leave the local zone, and you would lose Depop’s seller protection on the way (more on that below).
If you want to make a slow mover more attractive, US sellers on iOS can take $2, $3 or $4 off the buyer’s shipping, and the discount comes out of your earnings. On a $3.99 label, a $2 discount gets the buyer to $1.99 for less than a typical offer would cost you. A $4 discount on a Large parcel makes shipping free and costs you a little more than the label itself, so a full “free shipping” setting can be the cleaner choice.
Boxed sneakers, boots and a five-piece bundle
Shoe boxes push almost any pair of sneakers past the 2-pound line, and boots do so without help. That lands them in Extra Large at $5.99, which covers anything up to 10 pounds. Heavy is where Depop’s flat pricing pays off most: on a commercial label, a 2-pound parcel to a mid-distance zone already costs about $10.50 by I’d Ship That’s figures, and a 6-pound box costs far more.
Bundles follow the same logic. When every item in a bundle uses Depop Shipping, the order goes out on one label sized to the combined weight, and the payment processing fee is charged once per bundle rather than per item. If a bundle mixes Depop Shipping items with items you listed for your own shipping, Depop converts the order to a single Depop label. Three tees and a pair of jeans in one mailer will usually still fit Large or Extra Large, which makes bundle offers an easy yes.
Over 10 pounds, or worth more than $300
Here the Depop label either stops working or stops protecting you. Anything over 10 pounds needs your own shipping, which Depop calls “Other.” Its help center is plain about what that means:
You won’t automatically receive a pre-paid shipping label, so you’ll need to organize and pay for shipping yourself.
Depop Help Center, How to ship (US)
You set the shipping price the buyer sees, and you must use a tracked service and add the tracking number to the order. Price it from a real quote, not a guess: weigh and measure the packed box, check a commercial label tool such as Pirate Ship or your carrier’s site, and round up. Our guide to calculating shipping cost by weight, size and carrier walks through dimensional weight, which is what catches big, light boxes.
Value is the other trigger. Depop’s US seller protection is reported to cover up to $300, including item, shipping and tax, and only on items sent with a Depop label within five days of the sale. A $600 vintage leather jacket can still ship on the Depop label, but the protection will not cover its full value, so it is worth paying for your own carrier insurance and signature confirmation on that kind of sale and pricing it into shipping.
Three ways to ship the same $30 tee, and what you keep
Depop charges US sellers no selling fee on listings created since July 2024, but the payment processing fee of 3.3% plus $0.45 applies to the item price plus shipping and any tax. That small detail changes the math when you decide who pays postage. The example below is hypothetical, ignores sales tax and assumes an $8.00 commercial label for the own-shipping case.
| Option | Buyer pays for item and shipping | Processing fee | Postage you pay | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Depop label, buyer pays $1.99 | $31.99 | $1.51 | $0 | $28.49 |
| Depop label, free shipping | $30.00 | $1.44 | $1.99 | $26.57 |
| Own label, buyer charged $8 | $38.00 | $1.70 | $8.00 | $28.30 |
The own-label row looks close to the first one, but the buyer is paying $6 more for the same tee, the listing is less competitive and the sale has no Depop protection. Free shipping costs you about $1.92 on this sale. That is a fair price for a faster sale on a slow item, and a poor habit on items that sell anyway.
Buyers also see a separate marketplace fee at checkout: up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1.00, which does not apply to shipping, according to fee trackers citing Depop’s help pages. On that $30 tee, it can add up to $2.50. Sellers never pay it, but it is part of why buyers are so sensitive to the shipping line.
Boosting, postal rate hikes and what could move in 2027
Boosted listings are the one place your shipping choice affects a fee rate directly. The US boost fee is 12% on new listings from March 23, 2026, charged only if a buyer engages with the boosted listing and buys within 28 days. Depop calculates it on the item price, and adds the shipping cost to that base only if you did not use a Depop label. Boost a $40 jacket on a Depop label and the fee is $4.80; ship it yourself for $9 and the fee becomes $5.88.
- USPS surcharge. An 8% temporary increase on Ground Advantage and other package prices runs from April 26, 2026 through January 17, 2027, Ship.com reported, and USPS has said it will evaluate a longer-term approach. If you ship on your own label, budget as if some of it stays.
- Sub-pound pricing. Since July 12, 2026, published commercial Ground Advantage bills every parcel under a pound at the 15.999-ounce rate for its zone, so trimming a 6-ounce tee to 5 ounces no longer saves you money on a standard commercial label.
- Depop’s own labels. Depop has announced no 2027 label prices. Given a 2026 that went from a $1.99 regional test in March, to broad free shipping in May, to the current tiers in July and $0.99 promotions in September, expect more changes rather than fewer.
Smaller Depop shipping questions
How much is shipping on Depop for a buyer at checkout?
On a Depop Shipping listing, the buyer pays the label price for the parcel size the seller chose, reportedly $1.99, $3.99 or $5.99 since July 2026, unless the seller offers free or discounted shipping or a promotion applies. On a seller’s own-shipping listing, the buyer pays whatever shipping price the seller set.
Can I print a Depop shipping label at home?
Yes. Depop emails a QR code you can show at a USPS drop-off location, and it also provides a printable label if you would rather print and tape it to the parcel yourself.
Do I get my Depop fees back if I refund a buyer?
Depop says selling, processing and boosting fees are reversed automatically when a sale is refunded. The buyer’s marketplace fee is also refunded in full on a refunded order, according to fee trackers citing Depop’s help pages.
How long do I have to add tracking when I ship on my own?
Depop requires a tracked service when you ship on your own and asks you to mark the order shipped and add tracking. Seller guides citing Depop’s US rules say an order with no tracking after 10 days is cancelled and refunded, so add it the day you ship.
When does Depop pay me after a sale?
Payout guides citing Depop put it at two business days after delivery or 10 business days after the sale, whichever comes first. Using a tracked Depop label helps here, because delivery is confirmed automatically.

The bottom line for a Depop seller’s closet
For nearly everything people sell on Depop, the prepaid label is the cheapest postage you will find in 2027 planning, and it keeps your protection intact. Weigh each item packed, pick the size honestly, let the buyer pay $1.99 to $5.99, and save free shipping for the pieces that have sat for a month. Ship on your own only when the box tops 10 pounds or the item is worth more than Depop’s $300 coverage, and price that postage from a real quote rather than a round number.
Pricing method: prices were researched in November 2026 for 2027 planning and may change. Figures come from Depop’s US help center (shipping and seller fees), reported Depop label prices compiled by Value Added Resource and SellerToolNest, fee summaries from FeeFigure and Underpriced, USPS commercial rates compiled by I’d Ship That and USPS rate-change coverage from Ship.com. Depop does not publish a fixed US label price list, and promotions vary by buyer. We have no affiliation with Depop or USPS. See our disclaimer.
